The China project was initiated by Dr. Walter GmbH in 2004 to provide Chinese travelers with comprehensive insurance cover during their stay in Germany. Instead of a number of single solutions, the China project combines short-term travel insurance with long-term, private and compulsory health insurance.

Within the China project, Dr. Walter GmbH insures many Chinese travelers staying in Germany every year, such as students including language, adult education and doctoral students, guest researchers, etc.
