Our values
We are the experts in travel insurance and international health insurance from Germany.
As an insurance intermediary, we provide our customers with comprehensive advice and support; as a product provider, we create tailored insurance solutions along with state-of-the-art contract management and settlement of benefits.
We are one of the market and innovation leaders in Germany and Europe when it comes to insurance solutions for people abroad.
We value respect, openness, and fair cooperation—towards our customers, our business partners, and, of course, within our team. Because only together can we achieve great things.
Our core values are the cornerstones of our daily activities—they guide us, shape our cooperation, and form the foundation for our decisions.
Human rights, anti-discrimination, equal treatment, diversity
At DR-WALTER, we are committed to respecting human rights—in our company, with our customers, and in our business relationships. We are convinced that every person has the right to dignity, respect, and fair treatment. That is why we are committed to protecting human rights in all areas of our business and promoting a culture of openness and appreciation.
Anti-discrimination and equal treatment
People matter to us. Regardless of gender, age, ethnic origin, race, religion, ideology, sexual orientation, or physical abilities, we treat everyone fairly and equitably. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or exclusion have no place in our company. This applies to our working environment as well as to our dealings with our customers, partners, and service providers.
Celebrating diversity – diversity as a strength
We are convinced that diversity makes us stronger! Different perspectives, experiences, and ideas enrich our team, our products, and our collaboration with customers and partners. To confirm this attitude and promote it in the working world, we have joined the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. (Diversity Charter Association).
We cultivate a culture of openness in which every voice counts and new ideas are welcome. As an internationally oriented company, we learn every day from the different backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of our colleagues, customers, and business partners. This openness enriches our thinking and actions.
Safe and respectful cooperation
Mutual appreciation is the foundation of our success. We value respectful interaction—internally within the team, with our customers, and in our cooperation with business partners. We ensure a safe and healthy working environment in which employees feel comfortable and can give their best.
Sustainability
As a family business, we accept our responsibility and want to set an example. For us, sustainability implies forward-thinking in our daily decision-making and behaviours. We strive to conduct business effectively while cherishing and supporting our surroundings and our fellow beings. We achieve our ecological goals by using of green electricity and recycled materials, waste avoidance, a long-term reduction of the CO2 footprint and climate neutrality.
To offset our carbon emissions, we invest in climate protection projects in Germany and around the world. In order to motivate people to act sustainably and to provide impetus for further reducing our carbon footprint, we recognize the most committed employees every year. And we are far from finished: we are constantly developing new ideas on how to protect the environment and climate and keep our ecological footprint as small as possible.
Our employees
Our working atmosphere is unique, and we want it to stay that way. At DR-WALTER, we place great value on respectful, fair, and appreciative cooperation.
Each individual contributes to ensuring that our working environment is characterized by trust, openness, and team spirit. We treat each other as equals, listen to one another, and support one another. Because only together can we be successful and achieve the best for our customers and partners.
Our behavior is respectful, fair, and professional—regardless of hierarchy, department, or location.
Everyone deserves fair opportunities for personal and professional development—whether as an employee, customer, or business partner. We are committed to transparency and fairness.
Occupational safety, health protection, occupational health management
The health and safety of all employees is our top priority. A safe and healthy working environment is the basis for well-being, motivation, and performance. We are therefore committed to complying with all applicable occupational safety and health regulations and to continuously taking measures that contribute to promoting physical and mental health.
Our occupational health management supports the promotion of health-conscious behavior, the reduction of stress, and the creation of a sustainable working environment. Each and every one of us is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment—by being attentive, avoiding risks, and supporting one another.
In addition to the legally prescribed regulations and measures, we also integrate health-promoting measures into the everyday life of our organization and raise awareness of a balanced and healthy lifestyle through regular campaigns and offers.
We are audited annually by TÜV NORD Cert GmbH and have received TÜV certificate for Quality of Service since 2011.
Management culture and leadership principles
For us, good leadership means taking responsibility—for people, for results, and for our corporate culture. Our managers create an environment in which trust, respect, and open communication form the basis for cooperation and development. They promote personal responsibility, allow space for new ideas, and accompany change with clarity and confidence. Our core values are the foundation for this attitude, which we demand and promote.
We value leadership that provides guidance, but also listens, inspires, and empowers teams to reach their full potential. An appreciative and constructive feedback culture is essential for us, because only through honest exchange can we grow together and continuously improve.
Our managers are role models—not only in their actions, but also in their attitude. They approach challenges with curiosity, make decisions with foresight, and actively exemplify our company's values. In this way, we create an environment in which performance and humanity go hand in hand.
Legal compliance
In a highly regulated environment, we consistently adhere to the legal and regulatory requirements that apply to our activities – in particular the Insurance Contract Act (VVG), the Insurance Supervision Act (VAG), and the requirements of the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD). These regulations form the framework for our consulting, brokerage, and product responsibility. We ensure that all employees perform their duties in accordance with these requirements and are aware of their responsibilities towards customers, business partners, and supervisory authorities. Compliance with national and international laws and regulations gives us, our partners, and our customers legal certainty and the necessary stability.
Data protection
Our customers deserve the best protection—both in insurance matters and in the handling of their data. We are aware of this responsibility and do everything in our power to maintain the trust of our customers, employees, and partners. We treat personal data with the utmost care, respect privacy, and ensure that sensitive information is safe and secure with us.
No money laundering and terrorism
We take responsibility in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. Our screening processes are designed to prevent abuse. Our employees are trained to identify suspicious activities at an early stage and to respond appropriately. We also promote an open reporting culture so that violations or risks are immediately forwarded to the relevant authorities. We comply with the applicable internal guidelines on money laundering prevention and can contact [email protected].
Conflicts of interest
Personal interests must not influence our business decisions. At the same time, conflicts of interest cannot always be avoided. That is why transparency is our top priority. We foster a culture in which existing or potential conflicts of interest are reported to management at an early stage. This enables us to find a fair and appropriate solution together.
Antitrust regulations, competition rules
Fair competition is a matter of course for us. We focus on quality, transparency, and fairness—not on tricks or collusion. That is why we strictly adhere to all applicable competition and antitrust regulations.
Any agreements that restrict competition – for example, regarding prices, customer groups, or sales territories – are prohibited. Unfair methods such as misleading advertising or aggressive customer acquisition also have no place in our company. We want to convince with performance – not with unfair means.
Prohibition of corruption and bribery
We reject any form of corruption and bribery. Invitations, gifts, favors, personal discounts, or other benefits from individuals or companies with whom we have or could have a business relationship may not be accepted if they are disproportionate or not in line with our guidelines.
We also adhere to these principles when giving gifts and invitations to our business partners and customers. Our internal guidelines on dealing with gifts, hospitality, and invitations help us to identify potential risks at an early stage and take appropriate action. We are guided by the applicable gift policy.
Confidential advisors, whistleblower protection
Our appreciation for one another is also evident in how we deal with (personal) challenges and concerns. It goes without saying that everyone in the company is listened to—whether they are dealing with personal stress, uncertainties in everyday life, or suspected violations of rules.
Managers, trusted representatives, or the human resources department are available as points of contact. Reports of violations of laws, internal regulations, or processes can be sent confidentially to [email protected] at any time. Anonymous reporting via the whistleblower portal is also possible.
All reports are taken seriously and investigated as part of a clearly defined procedure – fairly, promptly, and with the necessary sensitivity.
Protecting the company
We handle all confidential information with care—whether it be our expertise, internal processes, or customer data. Only those who really need this information are given access to it. Insider knowledge is not used for personal gain and is never passed on without authorization.
We know that our reputation determines our long-term success. That is why we refrain from any actions or statements that could damage the reputation of our company or the trust of our customers and partners.
If you have any uncertainties or questions about the correct handling of data, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time – either our manager or the compliance department. In this way, we work together to protect our values and our reputation.
