Hendrik Becker became vice world champion at the 2025 World Triathlon Championship Finals in Wollongong

Triathlete Hendrik Becker achieved great success at the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Wollongong, Australia, near Sydney. He became vice world champion in the 45 to 49 age group over the Olympic distance – 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, and 10 km running. “As the defending champion, second place initially sounds like you're the first loser – but I'm really proud and happy,” Becker reports. “I don't feel like I lost gold, but rather won silver.”
Team spirit instead of individual sport
He also won the bronze medal in the mixed team relay. The Mixed Teams Relay consists of teams composed of four athletes—two men and two women. In addition to his individual performance, Becker also focused on teamwork: “Triathlon is often considered an individual sport, but in the team mixed relay, team spirit is what counts. It's all about cohesion and mutual motivation.” The conditions in Wollongong were anything but easy: strong waves during the swim, fierce winds on the bike course, and heat during the run.
Discipline, health, and protection
Becker trains almost every day, often three to four times a day – regardless of whether it's Christmas, Easter, or his birthday. “I've hardly been sick in the last 15 years and I know how to stay healthy,” says the exceptional athlete. He hasn't taken antibiotics in 25 years and has never taken painkillers in his life because he trusts in the power of a strong immune system. “I know my body very well.” Nevertheless, he is aware that travel health insurance is essential.
We at DR-WALTER couldn't agree more and support Hendrik Becker with our long-term travel health insurance Protrip German Traveler. “I'm glad that I don't have to worry that something might happen every time I go cycling or swimming in the sea, but can rely on a competent and reliable partner.”
Looking ahead
After a long and intense season with a total of 17 competitions, which began in March in Mauritius, Becker is now treating himself to a well-deserved break. “I'm happy to be able to take a breather for five weeks before heading to New Zealand for the next competitions,” he says.
We congratulate Hendrik Becker on this great success and wish him continued success, health, and stamina for the coming season! His passion, discipline, and team spirit perfectly reflect the values of DR-WALTER.
